Heartland Intended Father Nick shares his experience with choosing a fertility clinic for his family building journey.

Adventures in Extreme Babysitting is a surrogacy blog series compiled by Heartland Surrogacy. In this series, we follow the journey of Intended Father Nick* and Surrogate Beth*. They share their thoughts and feelings at various milestones in their surrogacy journey.

Nick, how did you choose your fertility clinic?

I knew the process of matching to a surrogate was down the road a bit, and first was matching with a fertility clinic. I had a bit of a struggle with this because the local fertility clinic had a protocol in place that placed firmer restrictions on single males like me that wanted to become a father and would extend my journey length significantly. Heartland Surrogacy really helped me work through this road-bump. They presented me several other clinic options and provided very detailed information about each, as well as their opinion on each clinic, personalized to me. I bounced between each clinic choice and settled on one, then changed my mind, then changed it again. The Heartland team and I exchanged several e-mails as they tried their best to answer my questions and help me find a clinic that fit.

In the end, I picked InVia Fertility located in Illinois and a big part of that decision was that I trusted Heartland Surrogacy’s high opinion and respect for the clinic. We all exchanged communications with InVia and the next thing I know I had an appointment in just a week! I soon discovered InVia was the perfect match after meeting the doctor and staff. The clinic supported me wonderfully by alleviating my nervousness and answering my many questions and concerns.

Heartland Surrogacy seamlessly stayed in the loop, and long story made short, I got my personal lab tests done, doctor consult done, and even picked my egg donor through InVia. It was now time to match to a gestational surrogate!
