Both parties will be involved in the decision making process.
We will ask the surrogate about her willingness to have a single embryo transfer (SET) versus a double embryo transfer (DET), and will also ask the intended parents about their desire to have a SET vs. DET, during the application process. We will then recommend a match with someone who is like-minded. The number of embryos to be transferred will also be outlined in the contract between the gestational carrier and intended parent(s). When transfer day arrives, there should be no uncertainty about the number of “em-babies” being transferred!
If you’re still unsure about a SET vs. DET, review this post for what to consider when making this decision and for more information on the risks and benefits of each.
