After a client is accepted into our program, we create a profile for them that includes information such as demographics (without identifying information), views on important topics like termination and communication, a personal letter, and photos.
We play “matchmaker” by continually reviewing profiles to find matches that we think will work well. When we find one, we present the intended parents’ profile to the surrogate for review first. At that time, the surrogate can decide to move forward or not. If she would like to move forward, we will send her profile to the intended parents. They also get to decide if they are interested in moving forward. If both parties want to move forward, the next step is a match meeting.
A representative of our agency will mediate the first meeting between a potential match, which may take place in person or via Skype. During this meeting, we take time to help the surrogate (and her partner, if applicable) and intended parents get to know each other and discuss many of the same items that we consider during matching. We guide the conversation through any additional questions either side may have. If both parties decide to move forward after the match meeting, then it’s official!
