You will be responsible for the expenses related to your baby(ies) after delivery. Insurance is one option for paying them. A surrogate’s insurance will not cover a baby born in a surrogacy arrangement. Therefore, you will need to submit their personal health insurance to the hospital or arrange for cash-pay.
Most insurance policies have a grace period of 30 days to add a dependent to the policy, but will cover the services from the date of birth. It is possible that the delivery hospital is out-of-network for your insurance, so it is important to check the coverage before delivery day.
If cash-pay is necessary, most hospitals will provide a discount if the bill is paid promptly. Heartland Surrogacy will help connect you with the appropriate contacts at the hospital.
