There are multiple parts to what a surrogate gets paid:
Base compensation – this is paid in installments. The installments begin at heartbeat confirmation and continue through the pregnancy.
Milestone fees – these take place at different points in the journey. Some examples are a fee when hormonal medications begin, a fee at embryo transfer, and money for maternity clothes.
Lost wages – both the surrogate and her partner, if applicable, can be reimbursed for lost wages. They are paid under specific circumstances, such as missing work for the embryo transfer and postpartum.

At Heartland Surrogacy, we don’t set a compensation package. Instead, we educate our surrogates on typical compensation rates. Then, we help them choose the amounts that are right for their circumstances.
