Can You Be a Surrogate if You Have Never Given Birth?
Unfortunately, no. It is one of the most important qualifications to become a surrogate. A surrogate candidate must have given birth to and be raising at least one child.
There are several reasons for this requirement. A healthy pregnancy and delivery tell us that the body can carry a pregnancy to term and that complications are less likely in another pregnancy. Previous pregnancy and parenthood also help prepare you for the emotional side of carrying a child for someone else.
Since secondary infertility is a possibility after any pregnancy, we also recommend that surrogates be done with their own families before considering surrogacy.
